Welcome from the President

It is a great honour to be President of Essex Rugby Football Union.  I have been involved with rugby in Essex for many years in a variety or roles It is my hope to visit as many of our member clubs throughout the County during the season as I can to see the amazing work our volunteers do to support our wonderful game.

I am particularly interested to see the development of our youth teams and the women and girls’ sections at our clubs as they are our Adult players of the future and we must do all we can to keep them playing rugby as long as we can.

We have a thriving rugby community in Essex with over 40 Clubs playing rugby each weeken . We also have may schools offering rugby and over 50 schools participated in our county youth festivals this season.

Our county has its own representative teams starting at U17 through to Senior rugby playing a number of fixtures in the National County Championships and prior to that working alongside Premiership Clubs Saracens and Northampton Saints players age 14 and above participate in a Player Development Group where the lucky few may go on to fulfil a dream of being a professional rugby player.

Our core values, and our commitment to them, are what set this game apart from so many other sports and activities. Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship must remain as fundamental to everything we do. We can only do that through you, our volunteers, players, officials, and supporters.  I thank you for the support that you give to the game
