National Cup Competition

The RFU have announced that the application process for entries into the 2024/25 RFU National Boys’ Under 18s Cup and the 2024/25 RFU Girls’ National Cup for Under 16s and Under 18s is now open. All new and existing teams are invited to complete the online entry form to confirm they wish to take part in the 2024/25 season competition.

Before you complete the entry form, please look at the dates below and confirm you will be able to fulfil fixtures on these dates. They are the dates set in the National Age Grade Competition Calendar and there will be very little flexibility on when fixtures can be played. If your local competition organiser has scheduled fixtures for a round date, please raise this with them. National & Regional Cup fixtures will take priority.The round dates are as follows:

• Round 1: 22 September 2024
• Round 2: 6 October 2024
• Round 3: 17 November 2024
• Round 4: 19 January 2025
• Quarter-Finals: 9 February 2025
• Semi-Finals: 30 March 2025
• Final: 27 April 2025 (TBC)

Entries are once again capped at 128 teams. The RFU  will be working with us and other Constituent Bodies to provide a geographic spread and gather insight regarding suitability for the competition. As in previous seasons, the Competition will be based on a straight knockout format to include four rounds of matches, quarterfinals, semi-finals and a final.

Entry Criteria:
The Competition is open to all Clubs in England, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man and no more than one team from a Club may enter.

Players must be under the age of 18 at midnight on 31st August of the effective season to be eligible to play in the Competition.

All players must be registered to play for that Club on the RFU GMS database by no later than 23:59 pm on Friday 4 October 2024.

RFU NATIONAL GIRLS’ UNDER 18S AND UNDER 16S CUP

The round dates are as follows:

• Pool Stage Round 1:
• Under 16: 13 October 2024
• Under 18: 20 October 2024
• Pool Stage Round 2: 17 November 2024
• Pool Stage Round 3: 8 December 2024
• Regional Semi-Finals: 19 January 2025
• Regional Finals: 2 March 2025
• National Last 16: 19 January 2025
• National Quarter Final: 2 March 2025
• National Semi-Final: 23 March 2025
• National Final: 27 April 2025 (TBC)

There will be one competition at each age group, which will have national and regional components, which up to 64 teams can enter. They will initially be split into regional pools, the winners progressing to the national knockout rounds, while the runners-up move into a regional competition.

To ensure that we have the best possibility of a fair and equitable spread across the country, Constituent Bodies will be working with the RFU to determine team entries.

Entry Criteria:
You must ensure that your team has a minimum of 18 registered players on GMS by no later than 23:59 on Sunday 15 September 2024.

Please, note that clustered teams are not permitted to enter the competition.
