Youth Rugby makes up a significant percentage of all rugby played across all our Clubs in Essex and so we are fully committed to providing a voice for our Youth, to influence change and help to develop a lasting legacy for Rugby in all our clubs and help create the future leaders of our great game.
We are fully aware both from personal experience and from a large number of documented cases that when trusted and supported the Youth of today can produce fantastic results and yes, question the status quo.
Council Members
We would be looking for a team of around 6-8 people,from across the County, aged 16-22 years old. The Council would vote in its own Chair who would led the Council and also attend the Counties full Management Meetings.
What does the Council Do?
The Youth Council would be part of the Essex RFU governance structure and have a number of responsibilities including.
- acting as a subcommittee for Essex RFU CB
- completing special projects on behalf of the Essex RFU CB
- acting as a consultative body for Essex RFU CB RFU with regard development of the Youth game across all facets of the game.
- representing young people across the County at Essex RFU level.
- organising, hosting, and accessing events and conferences for young people
- identifying and facilitating opportunities to influence provision and support for young people in rugby.
- helping Essex RFU to achieve their overall objectives and mission.
What are Looking for in terms of Skills?
- Actively involved in rugby in any way, whether it be as a Player, Coach, Referee or Volunteer.
- To be an an inspiring individual that can be an ambassador for the Council, and for Essex RFU.
- Someone who able to display strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willing to learn and develop themselves.
- Able to self-motivate with strong initiative and good organisational skills.
- Able to work as part of a team and independently.
- Is willing to stand up and ensure that the Council’s and the Youth of the Counties views and opinions are heard.
