Clubs in Essex participate in National RFU league competition, commencing at level 8, which is administered by the London and South East Competitions Committee.

Group 1 Automotive Essex Merit League
Clubs in Essex not participating in the National Leagues are invited to join the Group 1 Automative League administered by Essex RFU, which runs 6 leagues,
- Division 1
- Division 2
- Division 3 East
- Division 3 West
- Division 4 East
- Division 4 West.

Essex RFU Senior Cup Competitions.
Essex RFU Run the following Senior Cup Competitions.
- Senior Cup, This competition is open to all the Essex clubs of level six and above in the RFU Leagues.
- Intermediate Cup, This competition is open to the Essex clubs at level seven and eight in the RFU Leagues.
- Presidents Shield, This competition is open to any other member club of the Union who normally play their matches on a Saturday and not eligible to take part in the Senior or Intermediate Cup Competitions.
- 2nd XV Cup. This competition is open to 2nd XV’s of those first teams that play in the London NE leagues
- John Adler Trophy, This competition is open to 2nd XV’s of any other member club of the Union who normally play their matches on a Saturday.

RFU Papa Johns Community Cup.
This is a County wide knockout competion for 1st Xv’s and runs through April and May, with the finals at Allianz Stadium Twickenham.

Clubs in Essex participate in National RFU league competitions
This season the RFU will once again be running the Papa John’s Women’s Community Cup Competitions; the Intermediate and Junior Cup and Plate competitions.
The entries for the 2024/25 Papa Johns Women’s Community Cup Competitions are now open. You have the option to request a confirmation of submission on the survey. Entry is not mandatory to the cup competitions.
