“This season Essex RFU has decided to regularly publicise the number of cases it is hearing and the judgements via total sanctions that have been determined by the panel.

Since the start of the season the Essex Disciplinary Panel have dealt with 11 cases.

8 cases were from incidents in the Adult game and they have resulted in a total sanction of 14 matches, the highest being a 4 match ban for tackling a player in the air.

In the Age Grade game it is RFU policy to not publicise cases involving Age Grade players however where Adults are sanctioned we are permitted to do so.

So far this season we have dealt with 3 cases that resulted in a total sanction of 29 matches, the cases ALL related to Match Offical Abuse including entering the field of play without permission.

We did advise clubs at the start of the season that we would treat these matters seriously and we hope that by now publicising the sanctions that are being issued would go some way to act as a deterrent’
